Frequently asked questions

What nativity play works for a small class or group?
Cool Carols and Keeping Mr Inn In The Inn work with just 1 child plus narrators. Our First Nativity, The ABC Nativity and What A Star work with 2. All of them grow to 100 or more, so you won't need to rewrite if numbers change.
What nativity play works for a large cast of 100 or more?
Christmas Play in ONE Day and Christmas Around The World both take over 200 children. Most of our other nativities work with 100 or more, because group songs and non-speaking roles can be shared by any number.
Is there a Christmas play with no speaking parts?
Our First Nativity's narrators-only script lets children perform just by singing. For older children, several of our scripts have optional non-speaking roles alongside the speaking parts, so shy children can take part comfortably.
Is there a Christmas play that isn't religious?
Yes. It's A Cracker is mostly non-religious, and Christmas Play in ONE Day (Santa visits a children's ward) has an optional nativity scene you can leave out. Christmas Around The World celebrates traditions from many countries, with an optional nativity finale. There is also The Christmas Musical Selection Box, Away WITH The Manger and Will Santa Get Shot Down.
Is there a Christmas panto for schools?
Yes. Our First Panto: Cinderella is an easy-peasy panto for ages 2–7, with two scripts, eight songs and 15–30 minutes of fun. For older children, The Christmas Musical Selection Box includes the panto The Nutty Nutcracker alongside two other comedy musicals.
What is a funny Christmas play for KS2?
Away WITH The Manger (bungling burglars wreck a school nativity), Big Bad Ben Of Bethlehem (the naughtiest child in Bethlehem causes mayhem), Keeping Mr Inn In The Inn (with its multi-storey camel park) and The Christmas Musical Selection Box (three comedy musicals, seven editable scripts) are our funniest shows for ages 7–11.
Is there a Christmas play that links to a WW2 topic?
Will Santa Get Shot Down is set on Christmas Eve 1940 in an air-raid shelter, for ages 7–11, and runs about 40–50 minutes.
What is a good Christmas Around The World play?
Christmas Around The World (ages 5–11, 20–90 minutes, 2 to 200+ children) explores Christmas traditions from many countries and can end with an optional nativity finale. It is one of our most visited shows.
What works for a small school with mixed ages?
Combine the Infant and Junior versions of C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S Spells Christmas (C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S Spells Christmas (Infants) and Juniors): they tell the same story at two levels, so younger and older children perform together. Christmas Around The World also suits mixed ages.
What are good Christmas play scripts for KS1?
The ABC Nativity, C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S Spells Christmas (Infants), What A Star and The Fairytale Land Nativity Show all run 10–30 minutes, with short rhyming lines written for ages 3–7. Every script is editable.
What are good nativity songs for early years?
The best early years nativity songs are short, repetitive and set to tunes children already know. Our First Nativity's eight songs include Away In A Manger, and Our First Nativity TWO sets new words to nursery-rhyme-style tunes. Both come with vocal tracks, backing tracks and lyric videos.
What are traditional nativity songs for school?
Cool Carols uses 9 traditional carols, given a modern sound, plus two new songs, alongside a faithful biblical rhyming script. It suits ages 7–11 and works equally well in church.
Can I hear the songs before buying?
Yes. Every Learn2soar title has free song samples on its page. Many teachers play them to the children and let the class choose.
