There are two different scripts that can be used to stage this simple 9 song musical. Each script tells the same story, but in slightly different ways:
FULL PLAY SCRIPT VERSION: This is a simple rhyming script which has spoken parts for dozens of children, though it can easily be adapted to be performed with just a small handful of children if required.
SIMPLE SCRIPT VERSION: The simple script tells the story entirely through narrators. It has been designed so that even the youngest of children can appreciate and understand the story.Â
This musical can be performed with 2 to 100+ cast members.
If you stick exactly to either script, this performance should take about 20-25 minutes. If this is too long or too short for you, suggestions are included as part of the material you receive, which should help you easily shorten or lengthen the production by up to 10 minutes either way.
We believe that this musical needs a minimum of 3 days rehearsal time. Please note, this is not a guarantee. Please listen to the songs and view the material before deciding how much rehearsal time your pupils will require.
LOVELY
"A lovely little nativity. Our infant children enjoyed the songs and plot. It was very easy to use and we rehearsed it in record time. The feedback from mums and dads was fantastic. We would certainly recommend this beautiful nativity."

SO SWEET
"Just one of the sweetest Christmas plays I've ever used. A delight to use in every way. 5 stars isn't enough:)"

REALLY, REALLY GOOD
"We used What A Star last year in our Infant School and we loved it. It went VERY well. In fact it was so good that we’re already planning to repeat it in three years time and I can’t wait to do it again. The parents loved it and gave great feedback. It was nice to have a nativity so fresh for a change rather than the same old stuff. Really, really good."

BEAUTIFUL
"We staged this nativity two years ago in our church carol service with a cohort of 20 kids aged 3-13. It was completely perfect and went down a treat. One of our youngest children had the starring role of Leo the little star, which made it all the cuter. There were so many 'aaaawwwsss' from the audience, who were completely engaged in the whole performance. There was something in the script for all ages to get their teeth into, from singing solos to reading narration, and I love that everything was there ready to use, with minimal preparation on my part. With many thanks for making such a beautiful show."

A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE
"I used this with my Reception class. The songs and script were perfectly pitched for them. The performance was fantastic, mainly because of the way they enjoyed the show so much. They really did shine like the stars they are."

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
"I have to thank you for your excellent customer support. We've used Learn2soar for 5 years now and would highly recommend any of their nativities, including the lovely 'What A Star' which was a pleasure to stage. Recently we had a small technical issue with our download and we were blown away by the speed and helpfulness of your response, which was above and beyond anything we expected. Even though the issue was clearly to do with our school's computers rather than your product, you still went out of your way to make sure we quickly got going with everything we needed. Thank you so very much!"

FAB-U-LOUS
"Thank you for What a Star. It was a lovely play. It really brought some children out of their shells and it was a joy to over-hear even some of the quieter children singing in the playground... "We are all little stars!" That line is so catchy and that's part of the beauty of it, watching the truth of those words sink into the children's minds. The song 'Everyone's Special' is very special too. Even though last year's Christmas show is long gone, we still regularly sing that song in assemblies. The positivity in the lyrics is perfect for reinforcing the children's self-image. Well done Learn2soar - you are all stars too!"

A LOVELY PLAY
"Regarding What a Star: This was a very simple play to learn and stage and is a lovely child friendly way of telling the nativity story. The songs are very easy to learn with 3-5 year olds and were so catchy that even staff could frequently be heard singing them! It's a lovely play - we'll definitely be using you again next year! Thank you so much."
