Our First Christmas Play – SCRIPT SAMPLE

Any number of children from 10-100+.

If you stick exactly to the script, and sing all the songs, then the full script should take around 30 minutes and the simple script should take about 23 minutes. However, you can easily shorten or lengthen the production by 10-15 minutes either way, using the provided editable versions of the scripts. Suggestions of ways to change the timing can be found in the detailed ‘production notes’ which are also included in your purchase.

We believe that this play needs a minimum of three days rehearsal time. Please note, this is not a guarantee. Please listen to the songs and view the material before deciding how much rehearsal time your pupils will require.

No, this performance is not religious. One song and one script section do mention the biblical nativity story, but these sections can very easily be cut, if required.

VERY FLEXIBLE

"I've used Our 1st Christmas Play in 2 different settings now and wanted to share my experiences. The first time was 3 years ago with a reception class of 4-5 year olds. We used the full script, with all 10 songs included and it was big, big hit with the parents and staff. It was very easy to produce and the children excelled in their performance with beautiful solos and humorous acting. The second time was last year in my new school with a nursery class of mainly 3 year olds, most of whom were working at a level more akin to that of 2 year olds!! So this time I used the simple (narrators’ parts only) script. I then also cut out 4 songs and made a few changes to the songs that were left... either singing very slowly with no accompaniment, or using 'music and movement' instead of singing, with added percussion instruments in the background. It was still a great success and just shows what a very flexible production this is. Well done Learn2soar."
